Norwegian censuses available at MyHeritage and Ancestry.com

New Norwegian Census Records Added

These censuses have been available for several years in the Norwegian Digitalarkivet, but are now also available at Ancestry.com and MyHeritage

Here is the link to MyHeritage’s press release on the publishing of the Norwegian censuses where they state: “The collections provide robust coverage for Norway’s entire population during a span of two important decades in Norwegian history. Two of the collections include digital images of the original historical records”

  • One of the advantages of the censuses being on those sites is that they connect them to your tree with a hinting system. Because ancestry connected the 1900 stavanger census entry to a brick wall ancestor with his family group we now have his correct birth year to go looking for him in the archives
