Video Wednesday Hidra – The Pearl of Southern Norway

A movie with amazing drone footage from one of the most beautiful places in Southern Norway, Hidra.

Video from YouTube erikssc

Hidra is a former municipality in Vest-Agder county, Norway. It is located in the present-day municipality of Flekkefjord. The 20.8-square-kilometre (8.0 sq mi) municipality existed from 1893 until its dissolution in 1965. It encompassed the islands and southern coastal part of the present-day municipality of Flekkefjord. The municipality included the islands ofHidra and Andabeløya as well as 56 other islands, plus the mainland coast from Abelsnes to the river Sira. The administrative centre was the village of Kirkehavn where Hidra Church is located (Wikipedia).

  • That was excellent footage. Thank you. It may or may not being interesting, but I’d like to see places like Rogaland and Ostre Toten….farm lands and surroundings. All footage previously found from others are the beauty and grandeur of the coast and mountains. (please forgive me if the spelling is not correct.)

    • Hello Bob and Betty. Thanks again for visiting my blog. I am glad you liked the video. This “Video Wednesday” segment is just a little sideshow. I have no real supply of videos, but links to YouTube as their terms permits. You are right about the fact that mountains and fjords are popular among video producers, but I will certainly look for videos from the places you mention. Hope to see you back!

  • These stories have been so interesting. My dad came from Norway (Rullestad), so am interested in hearing about the country. I would like to read again about the North shore in Minnesota. I can’t seem to find it again. My niece lives in Duluth.
