Quick tips: Repeat your searches

Repeating our searches in the Digital Archives can eventually catch that elusive ancestor

We all have those branches in our family tree that we are unable to follow because our ancestor probably moved to the parish from an unknown location.

Nothing comes up when we use the Advanced search feature in the Digital Archives.

A search through the scanned records is a search for the proverbial needle. There is, however, some comfort to this problem: Every week new content is transcribed and made searchable in the Digital Archives. 

Going to the page Newest published we can see all the church records that have been indexed in January of this year. This is 123 sections from various church books. 

It is important to remember that we are talking about sections (parts) of a church book. If we look at the first entry (at the time of this writing) Church book from Åsnes parish, Gjesåsen local parish 1890-1929 (0425P), we can see that the second to last line indicate that this is the “Born and baptised” section of this book. Other sections of the book may not yet be transcribed and searchable.

Learning that so much new content, on a regular basis, is added to the Digital Archives, means repeating our searches regularly, may finally break through our brick wall.
