Genealogy, -not politics!
As you can tell I have some ads from Adsense on my blog. My blog is a labor of love and my incentment to put in these ads was a hope to cover the expenses for server rent and domain fee. (In 15 years it hasn’t so far, but that doesn’t matter as I am in this for the fun).
I have limited possibilities to choose what content is displayed in these ads. I have opted out of adult content and gambling. In addition I can block a certain number of advertisers. This is a tedious task as it sometimes is difficult to find the right source to block. This task is made worse as the ads are displayed based on four different criteria; Your location, Content based, Your previous surfing history (outside my blog) and Random. This means the ads you see may not be the same as anyone else sees.
It has recently been brought to my attention that ads relating to the ongoing race for the White House has popped up in articles in my blog. I am truly sorry if this has brought distress to you my readers.
I want to make it perfectly clear that as a Norwegian I am not involved in, and thus do not support either of the candidates in the ongoing campaign. Ads displayed in my blog expressing support, is not endorsed by me.
No matter what ads might be displayed, the product/service/opinion they promote is not to be considered endorsed by me.
Martin, we respect you and your blog tremendously. We know that the ads do not reflect anything you may be thinking. Certainly I understand the need to allow ads. After all, anytime someone complains about ads on Facebook, I point out that Facebook is free! Think about all the servers and other costs they have. It is sad that Adsense is so intrusive but we will keep on reading your blog because the value of your content outweighs the often idiotic ads. On this page now, as I write, immediately under your words Genealogy – not politics, there is a political ad. The irony.
Thank you so much for your kind words Judy. I know I have friends and followers in both camps and I would not intentionally do anything that could alienate any of you.
What Judy said is perfect…and I agree. (I haven’t seen any political ads myself. At least, I haven’t taken note of any.)
