Here are some websites I have visited this week

This week the whole family has been down with the flu. A lot of time to reade, but not all that much energy to do so. Nevertheless, I have done some surfing.

Many families have skeletons in the closet. Megan, in the blog Walking the genes, tells about her great-great-grandfather, Charles Newman. I find her story fascinating. Visit her blog and read her story. Be sure to follow the links at the bottom of the page to read the two related articles. Walking the genes – The lie.

There are many interesting and useful bits of genealogy information you can find on a death certificate. Just remember that the information is only as accurate as the person who supplied the information for it. At Ancestral findings.com I found the article  Death Certificates: Your Doorway to Your Ancestor’s Life

I find it very interesting to move out of my normal field of research and look at other histories. This story presented on the History channel blog is truly fascinating Meet Stagecoach Mary, the Daring Black Pioneer Who Protected Wild West Stagecoaches

The Ontario Genealogical Society publishes the OGS eWeekly Update every Saturday, and it is available by email to anyone who signs up — members and non-members. All 38 quarterly issues of Canadian Genealogist, published from 1979 to 1988, can be downloaded for free. Read Gail Dever in the Genealogy à la carte blog’s article Past issues of ‘Canadian Genealogist’ available on OGS website.

In her blog Organize your family history’s  article series How they do it, Janine Adams interviews genealogists to learn from their experience. The latest installment is How They Do It: Donna Cox Baker, The Golden Egg Genealogist
