Life in general......

Friday finds Week 34 – 2017

Here are some websites I have visited this week

It has been a busy week so I haven’t had the time to read as much as I wanted, but here are a few websites I hope you’ll enjoy

Last week I published an article about interviewing. If you use a recording device, voice recognition software can be an alternative to speed up your transcription.  Where are we today with voice recognition software 2017 by James Tanner at Genealogy’¨s Star write about the current status of voice recognition software.

Genealogical information without a proper sources is mere fairy tales. Amy Johnson Crow writes about what is a proper source, and what is not. Why Ancestry and FamilySearch Aren’t Sources

We have all hit the proverbial brick-wall. It is tempting to just call it quits and end that branch. Sometimes the Best Strategy is to Wait. Sometimes new information becomes available. This is very important to remember when searching in Norway. Every week new sources are published on the Digital Archives. This is one reason that I urge those of you who still insists on using the old version of the Digital Archives. You are missing out on all the new information that are regularly published.

It is always fun to see what Randy Seaver has going on at his Genea-Musings blog. This week he is Baiting the Genealogy Hook  trying to catch his grandson’s attention.

I have shared this link before, but I think it can be repeated. This is the News page at the Norwegian Digital Archives.

Here are some other blogs that presents links under the “finds” meme:

If you enjoy my reflections on genealogy, be sure to follow me on twitter. I am also on Instagram where I share pictures from Norway, often with a genealogy theme. Click here to reach me. You can subscribe to this blog by leaving your email address in the subscription field on the front page.

I am also grateful if you share my blog with fellow genealogists.

Have a great weekend!

  • Martin, I always enjoy how you write up your weekly finds: not just a list, but an anthology with reasons for inclusion provided.

Of course, I’m always happy to see I’ve made the cut in your current reading list!
