Friday finds

Friday finds: Week 19 -2018

Again, some websites I have visited this week

Viewing pictures and telling stories about them is emotionally healthy. It gives us a sense of who we are, where we came from, what has happened in the past” is the claim made by Judy Weiser in her article presented in Cathi Nelson. Read the interesting article Lessons from a Photo Therapist

Have we gone through our attic and closets and truly know what’s there? Heywood “Woody” Davis, a Kansas City lawyer had not and was highly surprised when a true gem surfaced. Read the story by Matt Cambell in The Kansas City Star; Rare Revolutionary War journal found nestled in Kansas City linen closet

There are different ways to preserve history. The Legal Genealogist, Judy G. Russell shows how Connetquot Public Library in New York state does it. Down Memory Lane

As with all hobbies, genealogy can be done with expensive software and subscriptions. It can also be done just as well on the cheap, but it has to be done the right way. The Occasional Genealogist, Jennifer looks at this in her article How to Do Genealogy on the Cheap, the Right Way

Donna Streetenberger in the Family History Daily blog asks if we have ever come across information on Ancestry.com, or another genealogy site, that was clearly incorrect? In her article she tells us how to fix the errors.  Finding Incorrect Records on Ancestry.com? Here’s How to Fix Them

We all want to get better at what we do. Lorine McGinnis Schulze at Olive Tree Genealogy gives us 12 Ways To Become a Better Genealogist

There are many of us who participate in the 52 ancestors in 52 weeks challenge. I have not been able to contribute every week. Deborah A. Carder shares with us her story about The Old Homestead

Here are some other blogs that presents links under the “finds” meme:
