Firday finds: Week 35 – 2018

It’s Friday and here are this week’s finds.

A small group of  rosemalers meet each week at Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis  to preserve a connection to their heritage. Read Folk art painting connects descendants to old Norway  from MPRNews.

As a follow up to my recent “Cluster genealogy” article, here is a post from Michael John Neill’s Genealogy Website, Rootdig Why Research Associates?

This is hardly genealogy, but as it mentions Ancestry.com, I’ll link it though. I is a reminder to us travelling people. A “printout” from Ancestry.com is not valid ID to cruise to Canada or any other place, for that matter.

Here is an interesting story that shows how DNA testing can work out. DNA from an escaped slave who ended up in Iceland ID’d in his descendants

Photobooks are great Christmas gifts. AS the Holidays ar fast approaching it is time to start the work! A friend recommended this page with great tips if you want to have a go at it. Photobookgirl.com

What would we do without those old records? What would we do without the people who, through the years have spent time and effort taking care of them. In Bucks county, Pennsylvania a the county archives are Racing against time in to save 300 years of land records From the Inquirer.

A shout-out to fellow blogger and Norwegian descendant Randy Seawer who in his blog Genea-Musings just published his post no 12 000! I regularly visits Randy’s blog to read his fun and interesting musings. I have stolen the picture from Randy’s blog and have put my lawyers on high alert 🙂

Here are some other blogs that presents links under the “finds” meme:

  • Hi Martin,

Tell the lawyers to stand down and not charge you anything. It’s a 12 year old picture and nobody would know me by it now.

Thanks – and keep up the good work.
