For those of you whose ancestors left Norway long before 1920, this will be a help in finding living relatives in Norway.<\/p>\n<p>The census 1920 is, at the time of this writing,\u00a0 accessible in a scanned version for entire Norway. \u00a0Approximately 230 of 705 municipalities (districts and cities) is available for search and the transcription is expected to be finished by April 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The Digital Archives\u00a0have made an overview that shows the status of which municipalities (districts and cities) are available in searchable form.\u00a0It is the municipalities that are ticked in the green field for &#8220;Published&#8221; in this list that will be available now.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/xml.arkivverket.no\/artikler\/1920status.pdf\">Status of the 1920 census<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This census is to a degree organized in the same way as the 1891 census.<\/p>\n<p>For each county (rural municipality)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>there is the main list with an overview of the counting districts,<\/li>\n<li>some district lists with an overview of the farms (dwellings) in the district,<\/li>\n<li>a household list for each farm with information about the individual households in the dwelling<\/li>\n<li>a form for each person who either lived there or was present there at the time of the census on December 1, 1920.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the cities, the house lists and household lists are separate.\u00a0The former with information about the apartment building (house) as a whole, and the latter with information about each household (apartment) in the building.<\/p>\n<p>As most of us, likely, will access the census through the person search, the various lists may not be that interesting to us. The person form though may yield valuable information<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"8280\"
