Life in general......

Friday finds: Week 8 – 2018

Here are some websites I have visited this week

Marian B. Wood in the blog Climbing my family tree tells about why family historians owe it to future generations to document both the ups and downs of the past. Chronicling the Ups AND the Downs in Family History

We have visited this myth before, but ut us worth mentioning again Mary Miley Theobald in the blog History Myths Debunked looks at Myth # 147: Immigrants had their last names changed or shortened on Ellis Island.

In the Genealogy tip of the day, by Michael Johyn Neill he looks at A Few Generalizations About Naturalizations Photo:By Bain News Service [Public domain or Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons

The Women Who Made Me project is an off-shoot of www.onceuponafamilytree.co.uk and seeks to bring the lives of real women from the past into focus, against a family history background. Read Mother of 11’s story

I find it interesting to learn about genealogists working in areas different from mine. The Psychogenealogist share An Interview With Polish Genealogy Expert Ceil Wendt Jensen.

While I am not into Genetic genealogy, I found this article from Did you know DNA? interesting. Did you know that Birger Magnusson was the founder of Stockholm? Photo: By Axel Forssén (1888-1961) [Public domain],via Wikimedia Commons

An online Family tree is not a source. It is at best a clue. At Thought Co.  we find  Five Steps to Verifying Online Genealogy Sources
