In the mother nature network, Lloyd Alter’s article How will we bequeath our digital memories? tells about how to store digital photos in a safe way.
Amy Johnson Crow writes about How to Browse the Census by Location. This technique can be valuable if you don’t find the person you ae looking fr through a search. Even though the examples shown are from the U.S. federal census, the same technique can be applied to other censuses collections on Ancestry and FamilySearch (as long as they have the images).
Here is an interesting article found in The GENES blog where Chris Paton tells about a Visit to the Society of Australian Genealogists
I see the world as a good place, however there are some sad things going on. Some of those have been on the news lately. Forest Gump said “My mom always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” I guess you can say that about DNA testing too. White nationalists are flocking to genetic ancestry tests — but many don’t like their results
James Tanner in the Genealogy’s Star blog has written what he calls “The rules of genealogy” These are humorous views on some genealogy problems. Here is his original article from 2014 Six of the Basic Rules of Genealogy and here is his recent update New Rules Added to the Old: The Rules of Genealogy Revisited
I have visited Darlene Steffens blog HomeFolk tales before. I truly enjoy reading her stories about her Norwegian ancestors and their experiences when settling in the USA. This time it’s Life in America for Peder C. Nilson (1827-1888) – Ed’s Day Wednesday
